Artist Alyssa Sanchez

Alyssa Sanchez, a Puertorican artist based in Manhattan and Bronx, New York. She is currently a private school teacher for the arts and a part of the collective 27. Most of her work focuses on her personal experiences as a latina woman growing up in New York. Much of the work consists of nostalgic moments and perspectives on relationships. Her surroundings hold a lot of significance and influence her tremendously. Everyday objects, photos, and people build her perception of the world and who she is.

‘Blushed’ is a series of oil paintings that explores the artist’s interpretation of emotions and human connection. While the works are unified by a palette of pink, they reach far beyond romance. The title ‘Blushed’ carries many shades of meaning: one blushes in love, in shyness, in joy. Pink, in this sense, becomes a vessel for emotion—an ever-shifting symbol of relationships in their countless forms. These works invite viewers to reflect on the bonds we nurture, whether with lovers, family, friends, or even with ourselves.
