Mr. Jiang Zhongde (JD) is a renowned pyrography artist. He inherited his artistic talent from his family, with a lineage of skilled pyrography artists spanning generations. Under the guidance of his grandfather and father, he developed into a young pyrography prodigy, earning local and widespread recognition during his academic years. Zhongde's dedication to pyrography has made him a unique and prominent figure in the world of art, representing the traditional folk art of pyrography as an intangible cultural heritage.
Pyrography is the artistic technique of adorning wood or other materials using controlled heat, typically applied with a heated metal pen or poker, resulting in distinct burn marks as decorations.
‘Heated Path’ is a collection of works depicting natural landscapes and animals. JD, an avid hiker and traveler, reimagines the scenery from his memories through the distinctive pyrography painting style. At the same time, the series reflects his personal philosophy: ‘you can always discover a better view by walking paths untrodden by others, however, it won’t always be a cool path to go through’
